More Photo Freedom
I found these very sturdy boxes at KMart which were perfect to use as my Category Storage (Us, People, Places & Things). They are usually $11.99 each but they have 20% off at the moment. I would have preferred a white or opaque colour but never mind. They will hold 5x7 photos very snuggly as well which is a bonus. They even have label holders on the front! How cool. Now to keep sorting photos.

I am really excited about some of the connections I have noticed whilst sorting photos so far, eg photos of my DD with her cat from the day she got her through to recent photos of them together. Also photos of my DS snuggling up anywhere and everywhere over the years, DD kissing her grandparents, so instead of say creating five different cute layouts of DD kissing each of her grandparents I can scrap just one layout with all five photos! Cool huh?
ETA: those marked with an asterix have been added or changed - 4.6.2008

One layout - thats all
I have been more focussed lately, on sorting photos after reading Stacy Julian's book Photo Freedom, instead of actually scrapping. BUT, whilst sorting through the last 15 years of photos I have noticed many connections (more on that later) so I have many more layouts planned for the near future.
This is my layout for the first Friday night challenge over at the SketchBook forum. Check out the link for this brand new not-affiliated-to-any-store, forum as its a busy forum of FUN!
The challenge was to use blue/white/green (the forum colours) plus polka dots and stripes...

The photo is a self portrait of my DD Alyse (wearing my pjays LOL), the journalling is hidden for this layout.

Jack challenge deadline
Monique said it so eloquently so I have simply copied and pasted her words right here...
Hey don't forget to get your layouts in for the May Kiwi Jack....the deadline is midnight Saturday 24th May so still a few more days to whip something up and be in the draw to choose the Jack for July ;D
and then Carol's choice for the June Jack will be revealed on the 1st.
(believe me it's a goodie)

Scrapbooking will resume...
shortly!
As this tends to be a scrapping blog, and I haven't been scrapping for the last two or three weeks, I really don't have anything to share (layouts that is).
However, I did a tonne of reading while in Fiji - scrapping mags & inspirational scrapping books (thanks for the loan Vicky) and also did a lot of BOM journalling, so hopefully will have something to share soon.
I was very lucky to meet up with an online scrapping friend (and my Fiskars 'boss'), Trina during an airport stop on the way home from Fiji.
I was so excited and nervous about meeting Trina, but she was soooooo easy to get along with that I really needn't have worried. We had a lovely (albeit too short) time chatting. Her little man, Dan is such a lovable character, and his twinkling eyes are so gorgeous (as is his little frown) LOL.
Trina, thank you for driving all that way to come and meet me (and my DH), anytime you are in the "Bay" please look us up, you are all more than welcome to come and visit. (**)
btw - I had to steal this photo from Trina's blog as the last 396 photos on my memory card have somehow corrupted (absolutely gut wrenching as they were mostly holiday pics, but nothing serious in the big scheme of things)!
I went through some photos of DD today (circa 1995) and chose quite a few to scrap. I will need to find some layouts/sketches for inspiration and then make up page kits in readiness for any upcoming crops.
(**) For a very long long time I have had this phobia about having people over to visit/stay. Even my closest family and friends know they need to give me AT LEAST an hours notice of their impending arrival so I can get this place ship shape.
I have been known to talk to visitors on the front door step as the house was a pig sty!
Time to get over it, me thinks, I need to stop worrying that there is dust on the shelving unit and the vacuuming is a few days overdue!
In my defence, I have been insulted in the past by comments from some people (adults and children) about my house, so they haven't helped my phobia.
So from now on, I am going to welcome visitors, but you still need to give me some notice so I can kick the dogs outside and get dressed! (On my days off, I tend to have a shower in the mornings then hang out in my pjays)! LOL

Mother's Day gift
I am so not organised for Mother's Day this year, sorry Mum, its not cos I don't love you, but I have been so busy getting the house into some sort of order for your stay!
If anyone wants an easy gift idea then check out the link in this FiskarsCraft blog post
Leah Fung demonstrates how to use the Fiskars drill in acrylic frames to add embellishments and book rings. I am definitely going to make the flip album.
I was going to link directly to the webisode, but the FiskarsCraft blog is a fantastic place to hang out so head over there NOW! and get a tonne of inspiration.

National Scrapbook Day
It is Saturday here in NZ so that means the NSD festivities have started.
Check out some cool challenges here and here and here and here and here. You may have to browse around each of the messageboards but these links will get you sorta where you need to go.
Check this challenge out in particular cos its a layout recipe idea by... ME! I must create something for this challenge today! - will link back here when I have finished.
I have a lonnnggg list of things to do this weekend, so best get offline and make a start! (I have been up since 4.05am so my computer time is over until I have crossed off some of those chores)!
Mum is house/pet sitting while we are away (celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary/belated honeymoon in Fiji) so that is the perfect incentive to get this place looking spic n span!
Happy National Scrapbook Day!
