Waikato Crop

I took a roadtrip to Hamilton over the weekend, driving up on Friday with my long time friend Lisa. I stayed the night with Vicky and her beautiful family on Friday night (Lisa stayed with her sister and brother-in-law). Vicky and I were up verrrry late talking about scrapbooking but had to head to bed as we were scrapping from 10am - 6pm the next day.

Check out the photos on the Waikato Crop blog - a very busy bunch of talented scrappers. It was great to meet more people I had only ever chatted to online.

I managed to scrap eight layouts, two of them very similar (one for each of the kids albums) and one I cannot share just yet as it is for an upcoming challenge. *wink* here are the other seven though...

This one is based on a card sketch challenge at Scrapbook Dreams, I converted the sketch to suit a layout. (another one using my fave Scenic Route harvest patt papers, for my BOM).

the one on the left is for Alyse's album and the other similar one for TJ's album (may look for some coordinating word embellishments for TJ's layout).

a typical KISS layout using some old KI Memories patt papers. I wish I was as good at sit-ups as my boy is.

This one uses KI Mem "my guy" patt papers (had to blur the boy's face as I did not have his permission to post his face on the www! LOL)

A layout couldn't get more simple than this, a few cardstock scraps and quick computer printed title and a rub-on = DONE

I used the actual poem typed by Alyse without correcting her spelling and grammar. A great sample of her compositions at age 6 1/2 years old.

Each and every one of these layouts were based on sketch or layouts I have found on the www, so I can't lay claim to any of the design, but I assure you they are my own photos LOL.

This is my name badge for the crop complete with miniature page kit and miniature sketch book.

After the crop I drove out to stay with Lisa's family, holey moley the weather was atrocious!
It was dark, windy and raining. Phone coverage ran out somewhere near Whatawhata and it was from then on the fun began! At one stage I had to manouvre between a couple of branches laying in the middle of the lane, being missed narrowly by a third branch as it fell towards to road!
I missed the farm I was searching for so tried a three-point turn on a one lane metal track to head back they way I came, only to get stuck down a slope by another farm gate. After several attempts to reverse back up onto the road I finally got enough tyre traction only to crash into the bank behind me. I drove quietly back to the right farm, sat in the car for a few minutes to take stock of myself then got out of the car almost kissing the ground!

(check out what I collected on my towbar in the wee crash!)

Lisa and I drove home Sunday without incident, (except for the dodgy mocha frappe I bought, I am sure that McCafe girl was trying to poison me!).

A great weekend away, but boy am I tired!

Lotsa Layouts

I submitted this double page layout to Scrap the Teenz - Teenagers & their pets. I am very happy to see this layout up on their blog, and for the lovely comments from Ann and Michele.

As I sorted through the 1000's of printed photos recently (Photo Freedom style) I found the connections each of these photos had and knew I had to scrap them all on the one layout.

More layouts I have created lately...

{The above layout was for ScrapbookingbyDesign's Bossy Scrapper Round 1 by Meek. I wasn't able to play along in 'real time' but copied all the ingredients down and created this ayout a couple of days later.}

{SketchBook's Friday night challenge was to scrap "the little things people say" TJ says some funny things so it pleases me to pair these sayings up with a photo, esp if it is a photo taken at the same moment he is saying these things}

{This layout was an ingredients challenge by Lara at ScrapbookOutletNZ, to use a frame, handwritten journalling and stamping}

{This was another ScrapbookOutletNZ challenge, this time Vicky challenged us to use a large photo}

{This was a sketch challenge at Scrapbook Dreams, I flipped the Page Maps sketch to suit the direction of my photos. By the way I won the prize for this challenge, I chose a packet of bronze rhinestones, I haven't seen this colour rhinestones before, they will be perfect for my BOM layouts.}

{Monique had a not-so-quick weekend challenge at ScrapbookingbyDesign, to base a layout on shopping. All I could come up with was my dilemma shopping for only ONE slice of cake when in Melbourne last October!}

{and this layout was based on one of Trina's sketches at SBO, I have had these photos sitting here for ages (since Feb 2005) and the sketch was perfect. Yaay another set of older photos scrapped! Thanks Trina!}

Sorry to blitz you with so many photos in one blog post, but blogger has not been cooperating lately, but today I managed to get all these photos uploaded F.A.S.T!! (all the linking up took the longest)

Craft Retreat

The weekend retreat was just awesome with lots of delicious food, great company, a tonne of laughter, and even a fair amount of sleep.

{Scrappers, cross stitchers, quilters, card makers unite}

I managed to get a few layouts done (minus the journalling though) and a mini album (one of Ali Edwards classes at C2006), so am happy with my productivity.

Had to wrap up very warm with thermals and a blanket. The only exercise I got was having to get up from my seat to walk to the dormitory or to the dining room! LOL

{Even though it was a wonderful weekend, it was very tiring scrapping all day.
This photo was taken on the Sunday morning at about 11am!!! LOL}

{my creators-in-crime L to R = Selina, Me, Wendy, Kerry}

{dormitory style accomodation, in cabins - very basic but oh so
comfortable - apparently I didn't even snore!}

I had to sit this month out but will definitely be back on board for next month (and just quietly - next month's jack is another gorgeous one).

So check out Heidi's beautiful layout for some inspiration and link your jack in the comments to be in the draw to be a guest jacker.
