My "Colour drawers"

I have been scrapping for ten years now and have finally settled on a way to store my stash that works for my style of scrapping.

I am a long time follower of Stacy Julian and she is the one I have to thank for introducing me to the 'colour system'. Here is a video where Stacy gives a run down of her system with more in depth videos here.

In the past when grabbing product while making layouts or page kits I would always go for buttons because they were close at hand. It was too hard finding 'just the right' embellishment because I had them stored all over the place in my scrap area.

Now I decide on a colour and go to the particular colour drawer and find all manner of lovely things for my layouts, and now I am using up older product cos it is right there to see when I open the drawer/container.

In each drawer I have one or two medium sized Klipo containers (or similar) for buttons (not all of them are colour coordinated LOL), a small fishing tackle box (with some of the dividers removed) for brads and smaller embellishments and a small basket for bigger embellishments or product. I have ribbon (as of today), bling, flowers and journalling cards in ziplock bags in the back of the drawer (plus other miscellaneous items).

My tower of drawers are from KMart and are actually 3 x two-drawer units and 1 x six-drawer units stacked on top of each other. I have a drawer each for RED, ORANGE, BROWN/CREAM, YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE, PURPLE, PINK, BLACK, WHITE/CLEAR, MULTI COLOURED and METALLIC.

My alphas are still stored in colour order in clearfiles (which need cleaning out cos they are bursting at the seams) and all my patterned paper and cardstock is stored in 12x12 ziplock bags in 60 litre containers under my desk, sorted by colour (or manufacturer because I am now buying more coordinated pads of pp so I don't have to try and match up all the time).

One day I might have a dedicated scrapping room (meanwhile it is along one wall of our lounge) and then I could have a large cupboard with shelves and bins just like Stacy which would hold even more supplies but meanwhile my shallow drawers are working just fine.
