SHOVED!

tonight I took a class at my LSS - Scrapbook Corner and within seconds of sitting down I was:
masking
painting
cutting
stampingsewing
distressing
snipping
scrunching
inking
sanding my photo edges (eeeek)
(kindy) glitzing
and of course gluing.
I used the gorgeous KaiserCraft Gypsy Sisters papers and some very pretty lace (apparently NOT cut from the tutor's knickers).
All these gorgeous elements came together to make one beautiful layout! The two hours zoomed by and even though I was pushed (or should that be SHOVED) out of my comfort zone several times, you have to agree the sweaty palms and knocking knees was worth it, my finished layout is a masterpiece!
Tracey's quiet encouragement helped me believe that 'yes I could stamp and distress and snip and scrunch and cut and even sand my photo edges' so I have booked to go back in a fortnight to create another masterpiece.

Thank you for the class Tracey and Scrapbook Corner.

this photo was taken of Alyse last Saturday on the beach at Tweed Heads. I have used Pioneer Woman's free actions (colorized, lovely and edge burn).

Design Team call

Sadly my time on the SBO Design Team has come to an end and Andrea is looking for a new team. Check it out here

I didn't think I had a chance to get on the 2009/10 team, but with some gentle encouragement from a friend I sent in my resume and was absolutely stoked (and scared at the same time) when I heard I had a place on the team.

As you will already know, I am a very simple scrapper but Andrea obviously didn't have a problem with that, and I have had so many wonderful compliments about my Design Team work over the last 11 months. Sheesh 11 months!! that time flew by and we were only meant to be on board for 6 months so even though I am sad to be finishing up I have to say we have been so spoilt, not only with extra time but with all the goodies that Andrea sent. She rocks!

So even if you think your scrapping style isn't the 'norm' but you know you can meet the requirements then go ahead and apply.

I intend to stick around on the SBO forum and look forward to meeting the new team and giving them all my support.

~~~
I had a huge clean up on my scrapping desk over the last few days, putting away a whole lot of bits and bobs that I had left over from page kits but was too lazy to put away. Once my desk was cleared off I was very inspired to scrap so pulled out some old photos and got scrapping...
For this one I used some very old KI Memories stuff that I bought off TradeMe years ago. The photos are from May 1996! A typical KISS design which would work just as well with one enlargement.
I used some Scenic Route papers, Bazzill Kraft c/s and some yummy embellishments and based my layout on the sketch from my Easter challenge post (see blog post below). This was for Lesley's shopping challenge (Easter challenge 1) - I bought bling, a clock and alpha stickers. I have sinced swapped out the alpha stickers for some olive coloured chipboard lettering as I felt it needed a bolder title. The journalling is very long and private so I have pasted it to the back side of the layout. It is about my son being a twin whom I miscarried and what would our family life have been like had he survived. To me (and to TJ) the twin baby is a boy and I named him Harrison.
I have scrapped the same photo for TJ's album but from a different perspective - the title is "Who is that handsome man" but everytime I looked at this photo I thought I would use it for my album from the 'what if there were two' angle.
Easter challenges
We have been adding some Easter challenges over on the SBO forum...
Challenge 1 - Lesley's shopping challenge
Just a challenge for fun if you are planning to some crafting this weekend. "Buy" 3 items from the list and replace them with 3 new items (they dont have to be Easter related). Make sure you post the list before you go off to create your layout! You can use whatever you want on your layout / project / card as long as you can include the 3 items you chose. The layout doesnt have to be related to Easter.
check out the forum thread for the latest list of items as it keeps changing as people do their 'shopping'
Challenge 2 - Ruth's egg holder challenge
So the challenge is to make something, anything, that will hold your Easter eggs that you plan to give away.
Challenge 3 - My sketch challenge
I use sketches all the time so I have chosen one of the latest PageMaps sketches for you to use as a guide for you layout. Even though the sketch an 8.5x11 size your layout can be any size bigger than 6x6.
I have used some of my favourite Scenic Route papers, a few buttons and a part section of some bling, my favourite Bazzill Kraft cardstock and some thickers alphas (the scroll label I used for my journalling is from a Got Sketch class) I used a free Pioneer Woman action (Edge Burn) on my photo.
Challenge 4 - Lainie's elements challenge
For this Challenge I'd like to see either one or more of the following used on your card or layout; buttons, bows, birds and butterflies. Have fun.
check out the forum thread as Lainie may just surprise us with an additional 'b' element or two. LOL
I have used 3 buttons, 2 butterflies, 1 bird and 1 bow on my layout. These are two of my favourite photos of my Mum and Alyse taken 17 years apart.
The journalling is by my Mum and I will get her to sign her name in the wee spot at the bottom of the journalling block.
Some layouts to share
I finished my 'short term/part time' job yesterday, which initially was just for a couple of weeks but ended up lasting all of term 1.The job opportunity came at just the right time as Mum, Alyse and I are heading off to the Gold Coast for a 6 day shopping trip later this month, so now I have some spending money, would have had to have asked Ross for some spends if this didn't come up LOL. I am sure he would have given some to me just to be rid of me for 6 days! hehehe
Anyway now that I am semi-retired (still have the accounts job that I do from home) I hope to get a lot more scrapping done, meanwhile here are some more layouts that I started at the recent retreat I went to with my friend Wendy. I finished the whole layout except for the journalling so now they are done and dusted and ready to go into the albums.
sorry no credits for these atm but will endeavour to get back to this post soon to add them.
